Amiibo Training Analysis: Ness

Welcome to the first chapter of a new series here at Cloud Nine, Amiibo Training Analysis! By now, I’m sure you’ve read most (if not all) of Cloud Nine’s amiibo training guides. These were intended as a starting point for trainers hoping to succeed with a particular character.

Amiibo Training Analysis is very different from the guides you’ve come to know: hence the name of the series, it focuses on analyzing one particular aspect of the metagame in great detail. In future installments, I may cover a wide range of topics: a specific character, a particular stage, or even a bonus effect. The goal is to help you all become more knowledgeable and involved in the amiibo game.

Today, we’re starting with Ness, a fighter who’s seen his ups and downs over the course of the metagame. If you’re a trainer who wants to raise a great Ness amiibo, today’s your lucky day: we’re going to take an in-depth look at what makes this character work.

Tournament Analysis: Cloud Nine Premier League I

Cloud Nine Premier League I has concluded, and it was one of the craziest amiibo tournaments to date. With over fifty entrants and high stakes, trainers sent their strongest contenders in a fierce battle for first place. Now it’s time to talk about how it all went down.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you all know that the amiibo tier list has been updated! We’re going to try something different today: as a result of community feedback, I’m going to explain why each amiibo rose or dropped on the list. All Amiibo Training Guides Now Available

In August 2015, I started the Amiibo Dojo, and I set myself the lofty goal of writing training guides on all 58 characters. It certainly wasn’t easy. At first, I had a lot of trouble with organization and keeping them all in the same format. But now, after countless hours of research, writing, and spell-checking, they’re done. And I couldn’t have done it alone: thanks a million to Trainer Blue, Arklaine, Supernova, LiteSpeed, LittleFang, DONkLE, ZachD08, and MegaVGmaster for helping to gather all of the information I needed.

Now that all 58 amiibo training guides are in pristine condition, your training truly begins. Because now you know that every piece of amiibo content here is 100% refined and polished. Therefore, I encourage you all to start (or continue) training in preparation for the upcoming Nintendo Switch version of Super Smash Bros. Thank you all for your support; I hope you continue to check back every day for new and updated content. Until next time!

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch: Predictions & Effects on Amiibo Training

I’m sure you’ve heard the news by now: Super Smash Bros. is coming to Nintendo Switch in 2018. And so a new era of Smash is finally beginning. At present, we don’t know much about Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch. But what we do know is pretty important: series staples Mario, Link, Donkey Kong, Samus, and others are returning, and Splatoon’s Inklings are making their Smash debut. But what we don’t know is even more important.

History of the Amiibo Metagame & Why We Still Train Amiibo in 2018

To a certain extent, amiibo training has always been a niche subset of Super Smash Bros. The idea of pouring hours of time into training a CPU character was offputting to some – not to mention the $12.99 price tag of each figurine. Over time, amiibo training became much more than an overlooked niche: the dedication of several amiibo training websites as well as the sheer quantity of high-profile tournaments helped shape the well-defined metagame we play today.

What made amiibo training special was the opportunity to discover. In addition to mastering each fighter’s unique moveset, we also had to explore several new mechanics, many of which applied exclusively to amiibo training: stat points, bonus effects, custom moves, and artificial intelligence. There were so many wonderful intricacies to learn about, and it felt like we learned something new every day.

But now, it’s 2018. We’ve learned just about all that there is to learn about amiibo training. Not only is the metagame winding down, but the Wii U itself is a dead system. So why do players continue to train amiibo? Is it still worth the time and effort? What made it so great in the first place? As we ask ourselves these questions, we must look to the past for answers.

Amiibo Training Guide: Mii Brawler (Wii U & 3DS)

Welcome to Cloud Nine’s Mii Brawler amiibo training guide! To start off, thank you for taking the time to visit: your support is very much appreciated. Huge thanks to Trainer Blue for sharing his knowledge of Mii Brawler and for contributing to the completion of the guide!

Mii Fighters are playable characters in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. They are based on a player’s Mii character—so anyone can join in—and you can outfit them with fun costumes. There are three different types (Brawler, Gunner, and Swordfighter), and each one brings a different fighting style to the battle!

This guide is up-to-date as of Version 1.1.7 of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.
